What are the reasons of US economy going down?

From news, I have heard the economy in US is down. Housing price drops. Stock indexes drop. Unemployment increases. What are the primary causes of the economy crisis in US?

It’s for many different reasons and factors.
-Bush being president
-the government taking money from people
- job closings with other jobs moving overseas
-the war
-banks closing or losing money
-stocks
- more people overpopulating areas and more places in the US
…have all contributed to the decline of the economy.

In my understanding, it is basically caused by high debt. American companies and people had higher debt level than they can afford. . Also, house boom and mortgage company created many unqualified homeowners who failed to pay their mortgages. So, many asset or mortgage back security caused liquidity problem. And this cause downfall of the banks and U.S. and the world.
