And with present-day globalization, it's unlikely that US economic problems will stay confined in USA. It's not so much a matter of going to the right place as it is a matter of preparing yourself financially and materially for economic problems. If you you have no confidence in your paper money. Then buy gold and silver. This way inflation and devaluation will not make your savings disappear into thin air. During the last Depression, the whole world had economic problems.
